Moving to Malta
We understand how important it is for you to stay connected, especially when you’re travelling. If you’re on a top-up plan, your phone should connect automatically, unless you’ve set your phone to Airplane mode or turned off data roaming. If you need help with this, here’s a helpful guide on how to turn on data roaming.
For our contract holders, please note that some Pay Monthly plans may not have Roaming and International settings activated by default. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Simply reach out to us via WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Live Chat, and we’ll activate these settings for you before you embark on your journey. Without these settings, your phone may not connect to network providers outside of Malta.
To ensure a seamless connection during your travels, we recommend manually selecting a network. Simply switch your ‘Mobile network’ settings to Manual and choose an operator from the list shown.
A quick note for those heading to the USA: AT&T shut down their 2G and 3G mobile data networks in February 2022, so you won’t be able to make or receive voice calls while roaming in the USA. However, there’s no need to worry. Just follow the steps above and switch to T-Mobile upon arrival to roam as usual.
For more details about roaming charges and available network providers, do visit our Travel page.
Also, don’t forget to set your data roaming limit from your MyGO account (under the Settings tab), so you can receive an SMS notification once you reach the €59 limit. This way, you’re always in control of your data usage, wherever you are in the world.
To protect you from excessive data expenses while travelling abroad, your tariff plan has 2 data limits of €59 (incl. VAT) each. Check out more information about the data roaming limit and how you can manage it.
