An import/export metre is a handy device that keeps track of two important things:

• Exported electricity: This is the extra energy produced by your PV system that is not used at your property and gets sent back into the grid. You’ll see this on your bill marked as “EXPORT” and your smart metre usually displays it under “Export info.”
• Imported electricity: This is electricity you draw from the grid whenever your PV system isn’t producing enough energy. Supplied by Enemalta plc, this usage shows up as “IMPORT” on your bill and appears as “Consumption” on your smart meter.
