Ħaż-Żigg has gained autonomy from Birkirkara, becoming a small local council. During the last election, the mayor, Dr. Stephen Ebejer (Matthew Raggio), was elected with just a 2-vote difference, surprising the minister (Ronald Briffa). The vice mayor, Trevor (Matthew Balzan), is also very unhappy with the situation and will do his utmost to regain power.

The sitcom unfolds into many adventures, with the mayor as the protagonist, pursuing yet another re-election. Employed full-time at the council are RAY (Daniel Chircop) and his buddy il-Piżell (Chrysander Agius), who seem to be at the center of this council’s management and are behind every complicated situation that takes place. The story is enlivened by the continual visits of the mayor’s mother (Marthese), Shajen (Raquel Theuma), the full-time secretary, the police officers (Geos Mifsud & Renald Ciantar), the chaplain (Ian Fenech), famous from ‘il-willy’, and many more.
