At GO, we’re proud to support and celebrate the incredible women who are shaping the future of telecommunications. In our Women of GO series, we highlight their experiences, achievements, and insights into balancing life and career in this fast-paced, dynamic industry. Today, we feature Alison, one of GO’s leaders whose career journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Can you tell us about your journey in the telecom industry? What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
Years ago, Alison made a bold career move. At 24, while working in insurance, she stumbled across a newspaper ad for a retail agent position at GO. Little did she know, this would be the start of a long and rewarding career in telecommunications. “I thought it would be an exciting change from what I was doing at the time,” she recalls. And it truly was.
Alison’s drive and potential were evident from the start. After her interview, she got a call back —not just for the retail agent role, but for her to take on a team leader position. Thrilled by the opportunity, Alison accepted, and her journey at GO began with leadership right from the outset.
How does GO support work-life balance for its People, especially for women who may have additional responsibilities?
What makes Alison’s story particularly inspiring is her ability to find balance between her career and personal life. As a mother, she values the flexibility that GO provides, which enables her to pursue professional growth without compromising on family time.

“I am one of many women at GO who’ve been able to progress in my career over the years. I’ve always been given equal opportunities to my male colleagues, whether it’s access to training programs or the chance to share my ideas. This kind of environment fosters not only growth but also confidence.”
Can you share tips or strategies for achieving work-life balance in a demanding industry?
Alison also emphasizes the importance of planning and having a reliable support system. Her approach to balancing work and life is rooted in being efficient, but not overthinking everything. “Make sure you have support—whether from family, friends, or paid help—and remember, it’s okay if you’re not baking fresh bread at 6 a.m. Appreciate yourself for making the most of your time, however that looks for you,” she adds.
What excites you about the latest technological advancements and innovations in the telecom sector?
Working in telecom has kept Alison constantly excited about what’s next. The rapid pace of technological advancements means there’s always something new to learn and explore. For Alison, this continuous innovation is one of the most rewarding aspects of her job.
