In an era where technology is increasingly complex, GO Business differentiates itself by offering a comprehensive range of services designed to address the full spectrum of a company’s IT requirements. “We engage with customers on a daily basis and understand the complexities they face when it comes to technology,” says Arthur Azzopardi, Chief Officer at GO Business. “Consequently, we have developed our business-to-business function around customer needs, rather than just selling pre-existing products.”

In the past, organisations could rely on their in-house IT teams. However, today’s technological landscape demands broader competencies. With over 600 employees at GO, predominantly technical staff, GO Business leverages extensive internal resources and a network of partners to meet diverse customer needs. “This enables us to provide everything from basic connectivity to advanced IT solutions as businesses grow,” explains Arthur.

GO distinguishes itself from competitors through its commitment to evolving alongside its customers. “While most businesses sell their product in a single transaction, telecom companies like ours invest significantly in infrastructure and generate revenue over time. This means that our revenue depends on maintaining high standards and adaptability to meet the needs of each unique situation. This approach seeps into our DNA; our business is built on having long-term relationships with our customers and scaling our services to support customers’ growth and evolving contexts,” the Chief Officer asserts.

GO Business has the flexibility to adapt to the needs of small companies, large enterprises, and government organizations. “We have expertise in networking, telephony, operating systems, and certifications from major technology vendors like CISCO and Alcatel,” says Arthur. “For example, we’ve implemented nationwide fibre-optic internet and possess extensive knowledge in satellite and radio technology. Our varied in-house skills consolidate multiple functions under one roof, allowing us to address customer needs comprehensively, whether local or international.”

Moreover, the telecom firm’s range of experience in servicing clients in Malta is unparalleled. “We’ve supported mission-critical events, such as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) a few years ago, and established radio networks for the connectivity of emergency organisations like the Civil Protection Department (CPD) here in Malta. Ultimately, we are fully dedicated to the business community, so their requirements are never an afterthought.”

Over the years, GO has amassed robust infrastructural capabilities. “We are the only local telecom company with three submarine cables going up to Europe, one of which extends as far as France. These investments ensure uninterrupted connectivity, which is essential for most of our clients, particularly those operating in mission-critical areas such as financial services or iGaming,” Arthur explains.

Looking ahead, GO is intent on maintaining its proactive approach and keeping abreast of technological advancements. “The world is constantly changing, so we are always seeking new ways of adapting and meeting customer needs. Our slogan – to enable a digital Malta – is more than just words,” Mr Azzopardi continues. “We are continuously in touch with our customers to understand industry developments and we collaborate with both local and international partners. Additionally, we are customers of other technology companies; we utilize their services and are well-versed in the industry’s key stakeholders. These activities enable us to identify partners best suited to meet our customers’ needs,” Arthur explains. “When necessary, we invest in these partners, integrating them into our organization.”

As a result of these networks of collaboration, the telecoms firm has acquired smaller tech outfits which provide specialist services. One notable acquisition is CyberSift, a cybersecurity software firm serving high-profile companies in banking, insurance, and finance.

Cybersecurity has become crucial not only for technology companies, but across all sectors. Most business runs on trust so if there’s a security breach, it eats away at the foundation of the client-company transaction. This has a ripple effect that impacts the business, its customers, and the wider community, including banks. Today, GO is ISO-certified, and we also work with CyberSift who offer ethical hacking, penetration testing, and monitoring of networks for abnormal activity. They’re a great company to work with and now, thanks to our collaboration, we have a wider boutique of services with which to provide our customers.”

GO has also invested in SENS, specialists in energy management within the hospitality industry, serving clients like the Ritz Carlton in the United Arab Emirates, the Marriott London Heathrow and the Kempinski Baize Lazare in the Seychelles. “They’ve been working with well-known brands for 20 years and here at GO, sustainability is a top priority. Therefore, we engaged them to understand their operations and optimize energy efficiency through technology and digital processes.”

The telecoms firm has also recently invested in the alternative energy company, AQS, who focus on alternative energy generation. It also runs Connected Care, an outfit that offers telecare, providing connected services for older people to monitor their health vitals. “Essentially, we are always looking at what’s out there and how that can serve our clients and the community, forging partnerships and investing in innovative enterprises,” Arthur explains.

Concluding, Arthur underscored GO’s commitment to excellence and further development. “Our goal is to evolve from a connectivity provider to becoming a comprehensive technology partner, managing the entire technological cycle for our customers. We want to drive a digital Malta where no one is left behind.”
