Jurassic World Dominion review by Fabio Agius

Seen Jurassic World Dominion some time ago at the cinema, but since I am a great fan of horror/monster movies, I have decided to give it another watch and what best way to rewatch a film other than GO TV. Though it had some rough critics, I enjoyed watching it. Do not expect some Shakespearian acting from any of the Jurassic World movies but a roller coaster of fun, action, beautiful special effects, and dinosaurs.

The story takes place four years after the last movie, where we see that dinosaurs have blended with the modern ecosystem, and one can find dinosaurs all over the world, including Malta! I would call this movie a Jurassic Park/World family reunion because it unites Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Alan Grant (Sam Neill) from the Jurassic Park trilogy with the new faces we have seen and loved in the Jurassic World movies like Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt). In this movie, we see the dangers of genetic manipulation, where together with dinosaurs, there is a new threat to humanity: genetically manipulated locusts. After many years Malta is portrayed as itself but in a fictional setting, a middle eastern kind of island where dinosaurs are traded illegally and sold to the highest bidder. Not in the light we wanted our country to be portrayed in but cool nonetheless. This movie has a “Mission Impossible” vibe where our heroes travel from one country to another and see dinosaurs in different settings, some of which are snow and mountains.

The special effects are incredible, and we see a great variety of dinosaurs, much more than in the previous movies. The visual effects are so realistic that you almost believe that you’re seeing actual footage of dinosaurs being released in the wild and worldwide. Dinosaurs in this movie are more of a threat because one can encounter deadly ones while strolling in the wild. The concept of some of them having feathers is also a brave take on them because, theoretically, many dinosaurs have evolved into birds. The music score by composer Michael Giacchino is brilliant, and the central theme is a revisit to the Jurassic Park trilogy with a fresh beat.

If you’re a fan of the Jurassic Park/World IP or not, even if you have already watched the movie, I suggest you rewatch this action/special effects-packed adventure on GO TV.
