Outlander Season 8 review by Fabio Agius

Since it is ending, it is more than appropriate to review Season 8 of my first review for GO TV, Outlander, an intriguing time travel drama. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had a very short Season 6 and quite a prolonged Season 7.

Sources state that Starz has confirmed that the show will end with Season 8, with Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for Starz, saying that after over a decade, it was time to conclude Claire and Jamie’s epic love story. It was quite a contradiction because when formerly asked how long this saga would take, Executive producer Maril Davis said that they would keep churning up episodes to this franchise until, quote, “Claire and Jamie are a hundred” since there is a mine of source material (the books) and the actors are willing to keep the series going.

Season 8 of Outlander focuses mainly on the ninth book by Diana Gabaldon. In the novel, Jamie and Claire’s relationship is in turmoil again, and their family is threatened to be broken by the American Revolutionary War. Rob Cameron, the primary character in season 7, was the cause of turmoil for Brianna, Roger and their family; the book also further explores the worries, fears and conspiracies surrounding them.

The plot is in the hands of the producers and directors, who I am sure will take their artistic liberties in changing some things, especially if they will conclude this series in this season.

I don’t know about you, but I am curious about how this drama will end. It has been a long journey since I discovered this series on Go Tv, and though it is not my cup of tea, I look forward to this season’s finale. If you haven’t seen this series yet, I highly recommend it to you, especially if you like a period drama with some science fiction.
